I’ve followed up with Maine’s congressional delegation about the ongoing mail delivery problems in Raymond and surrounding communities.

Residents continue to report delays in receiving absentee ballots and property tax bills, along with longstanding concerns about prescription medications arriving on time. I’ve asked for their continued assistance working with USPS to address these issues and provide a clear timeline for improvements.

Thank you to everyone who has shared their experiences with my office. We’ll continue working toward a solution and share updates as we receive them.

A quick reminder for neighbors using the mail to vote absentee: Request your ballot by Oct. 19 and mail it back by Oct. 27 to allow time for delivery.

You can also return your completed ballot directly to your municipal clerk or use an official absentee ballot drop box, if your municipality has one.

However you return it, your clerk must receive your ballot by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Contact your clerk if you need help making a plan.

Lunch duty looked a little different this week!

I joined Senator Jill Duson and Representative Suzanne Salisbury at Westbrook High School to help serve lunch and hear from the school nutrition staff about the benefits they’re seeing from free school meals.

Making sure students have nutritious food during the school day helps them focus on learning and gives families one less expense to worry about. Hearing from the people preparing and serving those meals every day is an important part of understanding how this investment is working.

One other thing stood out: With the bell-to-bell cell phone ban in place, students were spending lunch talking, laughing and enjoying time with their friends. It was a lively cafeteria, and a nice reminder that lunch is also a chance to connect.

Thank you to the Westbrook School Nutrition team for welcoming us and for everything you do to keep students fed and ready to learn. You deserve recognition during School Meals Week and all year long!

Today is Purple Thursday, a day during Domestic Violence Awareness Month when people across the country wear purple to support survivors, honor those whose lives have been taken and raise awareness about domestic abuse.

Wearing purple is a way to let survivors know they are seen, believed and supported. It also reminds us that we all have a role in creating safer communities.

This session, I proudly supported funding to help keep shelter, legal assistance and advocacy available to survivors across Maine.

If you or someone you know needs support, Maine’s statewide domestic violence helpline is available at 1-866-834-4357. Help is free, confidential and available 24 hours a day.

A farm stand purchase represents a great deal of work long before it reaches your table.

On Farmer’s Day, I’m grateful to Maine’s farmers and farmworkers for their skill, persistence and commitment to feeding our communities.

I was proud to support Sen. Henry Ingwersen’s effort this year to better understand and address mental health challenges in our heritage industries. Supporting Maine agriculture means supporting the people who make it possible.

Today, we recognize the Wabanaki Nations and the generations who have cared for this land, sustained their cultures and strengthened Maine.

I was proud to support this year’s legislation giving the Mi’kmaq Nation a nonvoting seat in the Legislature and expanding certain tribal tax exemptions.

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, I reaffirm my support for tribal sovereignty and for a relationship built on respect, listening and meaningful cooperation.

We should be able to talk about mental health as openly as any other part of our health.

Today is World Mental Health Day, during Mental Illness Awareness Week. It’s a reminder to check in with one another, listen without judgment and help people connect with care.

If you’re experiencing emotional distress or concerned about a loved one, call or text 988. Free, confidential support is available around the clock.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a reminder to make time for your health.

If you’ve been putting off a conversation about breast cancer screening, reach out to your health care provider. They can help you understand your risks and decide what screening is appropriate.

For eligible Mainers who need help paying for screening, the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program offers assistance. Call 1-800-350-5180 for information.

To everyone navigating treatment and everyone supporting them: Our community is behind you.

You have options when it comes to voting in Maine.

For the Tuesday, Nov. 3, election, registered voters can request an absentee ballot and vote when it works for their schedule. You don’t need a special reason to vote absentee.

Contact your municipal clerk or use the Secretary of State’s online ballot request service to get started. Remember: Your completed ballot must be received by your clerk by 8 p.m. on Nov. 3.
