It’s getting colder out there, Maine. And, while the Legislature can’t control global challenges that raiseoil and natural gas prices, we can take steps to ease the burden for Maine people.

This year, Senate Democrats fought to lower costs – We lowered energy bills for families in northern and eastern Maine, invested in electricity assistance for Mainers with lower incomes, and held utility regulators accountable through the “Energy Fairness Act.”

As the days and nights get cooler, here are a few local and state programs and resources you can use this season to help manage energy costs.

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the Wabanaki Nations, their deep history and ongoing contributions to Maine.

We will continue to support tribal sovereignty in the Legislature. This year, we passed legislation to increase legislative representation for the Wabanaki Nations and exempt them from certain state taxes, following the practice of other states.
