MD3 (Drs Wong, Klein,Pieh) were at Augusta Fire helping teach a range of airway skills at their annual Airway Skills Day. We reviewed difficult intubation, use of video laryngoscopes, surgical cricothyrotomy in adults, needle cricothyrotomy in pediatrics and more. Kudos to Ally Gosselin, Mid Maine Technical Center's EMT of the Year! She is flanked by Chiefs Flannery and Frost of the Waterville Fire Department, where she is an EMT intern this year, as her award details are read by paramedic Abigail McMahon, her EMT instructor (and MD3 Board of Directors member). Ally was honored with the 9/11 Scholarship and was the silver medal awardee at the Maine State EMT Skills Competition. She plans to start the SMCC paramedic program while participating in the live-in program at Raymond Fire. We could not be more proud!

* Blue lips or fingernails.
* Slow or stopped breathing.
* Unresponsive to shouting or shaking.
* Pinpoint pupils.

We are proud to recognize the dedicated professionals at the Winthrop Communications Center (Winthrop Police), the Delta Ambulance Dispatch Center (Delta Ambulance) the Augusta Communications Center (City of Augusta), the Augusta Regional Communications Center (Maine State Police), the Somerset Regional Communications Center), the Department of Public Safety Regional Communications Centers), and all the other dispatch centers we work with across Kennebec Valley. These individuals serve as the critical link between our community and emergency care, and their expertise provides the foundation for every life-saving mission we undertake.
