"What do you want to prioritize more people of Maine or the growth of state government?" Rep. Billy Bob Faulkingham, R-Winter Harbor, said. "We've had eight years, for both sides to demonstrate where they stand. And we stand where we have always stood with prioritizing the Maine people and making their lives easier."

According to the Maine Department of Administrative and Financial Services, the state is in a $1.3 billion shortfall between the general fund and the highway fund.
