AURORA, Colo. — Colorado Army National Guard soldiers and family members gathered to witness the Oath of Enlistment of seven new soldiers in a ceremony led by Lt. Col. Adam Cole, 1-157th Infantry Battalion commander, at the COARNG Aurora Armory, Apr. 30.
All the soldiers taking the oath of enlistment were enlisted by Staff Sgt. Alex M. Klaus and Sgt. Ryan J. Dupuis, Aurora Armory recruiters, who were also present.
"As new soldiers get into the military career it is important for family members to be part of this type of ceremony since soldiers do not do this only for themselves, it involves the families," said Sgt. Dupuis. "Having family support will make the difference once they get to basic training (BCT) and advanced individual training (AIT)."
As part of the ceremony, the new soldiers also signed a copy of the Soldiers Creed, which serves as the standard all U.S. Army soldiers should live up to.

The Quilts of Valor Foundation was founded by Catherine Roberts, who made a quilt for her son when he was deployed in 2003. Since then, 336,000 veterans have been wrapped in quilts while surrounded by their friends and family.
