On Wednesday, October 21, at 5 p.m., we will be hosting a patient Tele-Town Hall event for Eastern Colorado Health Care System patients. Agenda topics for the event will include leadership and health care system updates, as well as answering patient questions live on the call.
For the event, we are only able to dial out to a small sampling of our patient population to participate, but all are welcome to join. For patients on the randomized dial out list, you will receive a robo-call the night before, making you aware of the call the next day. If you do not receive a robo-call the night before, and would like to participate, patients can dial the event call-in line at 5 p.m. when the call begins. VA Eastern Colorado is recruiting veterans who are experiencing, PTSD-related nightmares to participate in a research study to help us understand if improving sleep quality, by reducing the impact of nightmares, can improve cardiovascular health.

To be eligible for the study, veterans must experience repetitive nightmares related to PTSD and be between the ages of 22 and 88 years old.

Veterans,

Please be aware that, effective Oct. 9, the walk-in wheelchair repair clinic at Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center (RMR) will be closed until Oct. 28. We apologize for any inconvenience. However, we have two exciting alternative options to share with you.

For mobility device repair:

Option 1 — Contact the VA Clinic (720-723-3446)

When you call the clinic, the VA can authorize a purchase order directly to an authorized repair vendor and coordinate the repair on your behalf. This route keeps the VA involved in arranging and managing the repair with the vendor so there is no loss of continuity.

Option 2 — Contact Scootaround Directly (888-583-8387)

Scootaround is a national vendor contracted by the VA to serve as a single point of contact for repairs of VA-issued wheelchairs, powerchairs, and scooters. With this option, you contact Scootaround directly and coordinate the repair with them. No consult or appointment is required. The VA typically has no direct involvement in this process and is only notified once the repair is complete or if the vendor needs additional information from the facility.

Please note: To be eligible for Scootaround's service, your device must be listed on your VA prosthetic record. Devices not on your record may need to go through the clinic instead.

VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS) is now offering centralized flu vaccine clinics at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center in Aurora, PFC Floyd K. Lindstrom VA Clinic in Colorado Springs and PFC James Dunn VA Clinic in Pueblo.

RMR VA Medical Center:
Bldg G, Floor 3, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Lindstrom Clinic:
Near the Fireplace, Monday through Friday, until Nov. 30, Walk-in, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., closed for lunch from 11: 30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Dunn Clinic:
Every Thursday in October, except Oct. 15, Walk-in, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Vaccines will be available by walk-in or appointment through the end of flu season, which typically extends into the spring.

Additionally, veterans have multiple options to get their flu shot this year:

1. VA ECHCS primary care and specialty clinics is offering flu vaccines during scheduled appointments and by walk-in during normal clinic hours.

2. No-cost flu vaccines are available to enrolled veterans at pharmacies and urgent care locations across eastern Colorado. To find a close-to-home and in-network community care provider, veterans can enter in their zip code in the drop-down menu of the VA locator at https://www.va.gov/find-locations.

For those who choose to go outside of VA care for their flu shot, veterans can let their VA team know so they can update their records. They will need to send their provider a Secure Message using the VA Health and Benefits app or My HealtheVet, or call the VA call center, at 303-399-8020, to relay a message to their care team, with:

• Their full name,
• The last four digits of their Social Security number,
• The name of the vaccine,
• The date they received it,
• Where they received it.

If veterans have questions, they can contact their VA care team.

Attention Southern Colorado Veterans:

The Office of Community Care walk-in office at the PFC. Floyd K. Lindstrom VA Clinic in Colorado Springs will be closed Friday, Sept. 25, and Monday, Sept. 28. The office will reopen at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, for normal business hours.
