Armed Forces Day is celebrated annually on the third Saturday of May. In 1947, President Harry Truman signed the National Security Act into law, unifying the four branches of the military under a single executive authority. This led to the creation of the National Military Establishment, which was later replaced by the Department of Defense. We thank those who have and continue to serve.

Happy birthday to the U.S. Army Reserves! On April 23rd of 1908, Congress created the Medial Reserve Corps, which is the official predecessor of the Army Reserve. Through its 114 year history, reservists have deployed to roughly 30 countries and contributed to two World Wars, the Cold War, the Korean War, The Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, and many more missions!

Reservists continue to fulfill their mission to Fly, Fight, and Win and can be fully deployable in 72 hours. The Reserves operate as an important part of the DoD's strategy for manpower, global reach, and flexibility. Today, we celebrate 74 years of service!
