Aurora FOP Lodge 49 is saddened to hear of the passing of our 2nd Vice President, Agent Troy Raines. Troy passed Saturday morning after a courageous battle with cancer.
In March of 2025, Troy assumed the role of 2nd Vice President on the Executive Board. His passion and dedication to the FOP membership was second to none.
Troy was also the President of the Colorado chapter for the Brotherhood for the Fallen. I had the opportunity of traveling with him to several funerals across the country honoring fallen officers and supporting their families.
Troy served honorably in the United States military and his law enforcement career spanned several decades. Troy’s impact on his fellow officers and the communities he served will be remembered for years to come.
Rest easy our brother, Troy Raines.
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our President, Agent Troy Raines, who left us this morning after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Troy believed deeply in the mission of . Even while facing his own challenges, he devoted countless hours to ensuring that no fallen officer would be forgotten and no family would stand alone. We were incredibly fortunate to know him and stand beside him, witnessing firsthand the dedication, humor, and unwavering spirit he brought every single day.
He also served as a dedicated detective in the Major Crimes Homicide Unit at the Aurora Police Department, tirelessly seeking justice for homicide victims and their families.
“Troy was never defined by his cancer diagnosis and instead stood as a true example of sacrifice and service to others," said Aurora Police Chief Todd Chamberlain. “As president of the Brotherhood of the Fallen, he touched so many lives and ensured that fallen officers across the nation received the honors and acknowledgement so rightly deserved.”
Please keep Troy’s family, friends, and the Aurora Police Department in your hearts during this incredibly difficult time. We will honor his legacy by continuing the mission he cared so deeply about.
Rest easy, brother. We have the watch from here.

Good police work by our officers! Solid investigation and followup led to a timely arrest. Well done!
🚨 Arrest Made in Colfax Fatal Hit-and-Run🚨
Just after 6:30 p.m., last night officers responded to a fatal auto-pedestrian crash on E. Colfax Ave. near Laredo St.. The investigation determined an adult male was crossing north across Colfax when he was struck by a GMC SUV. The driver did not remain on scene.
Thanks to our Real Time Information Center (RTIC) and Flock Safety cameras, the suspect vehicle was quickly identified. Officers located the driver, 32-year-old Daryl Murray, at a Denver address and took him into custody without incident.
Murray was arrested for driving with a suspended license, failing to notify police of a crash, and leaving the scene of a crash. He’s being held at the Aurora Detention Center on a $20,000 bond. Formal charges will come from the 17th Judicial District.
A big thank you to our officers and RTIC team for their quick work and teamwork in bringing this case to a swift resolution. 👏

Today, we remember.
We honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice is the reason we are free.
As we enjoy the day with family and friends, may we carry their legacy in our hearts—not just today, but every day.
Freedom isn’t free.
Let’s pause to reflect, remember, and give thanks.

Remember why you do it. Remember the difference you make!
BECAUSE OF YOU, COMMUNITIES STAY SAFE.
Because of you, a child gets to grow up with both parents.
Because of you, a victim finds justice.
Because of you, evil does not go unchallenged.
You are not just a cop. You are a protector, a fighter, a symbol of courage.

23 years ago, our Nation & the world changed forever with the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks. Today, we remember the 2,977 civilians, police, & firefighters who lost their lives that day.
We will never forget the pain of that day, and many of us will never forget where we were, that memory etched on our minds. However, in the wake of that tragedy, there was something else we should remember: the kindness, compassion, and unitedness of our great country.
