You know what isn’t cool? Drowning. USACE data shows 88% of drowning victims are male, meaning men are about 7 times more likely to drown than women. Gentlemen, if you want to impress someone, start by buckling that life jacket.

💧 Why am I paying a Water Quality Fee if I already have a Keep Colorado Wild Pass?

If you visit Cherry Creek State Park, you may notice a $3 annual Water Quality Fee. This fee has been authorized by the Colorado Legislature since 1989 and directly supports efforts to protect and improve water quality in Cherry Creek Reservoir and Cherry Creek.

The fee is collected at the park entrance because the Department of Revenue does not collect it when Keep Colorado Wild Passes are purchased.

Why does it matter? Water quality projects funded through the Cherry Creek Basin Water Quality Authority help reduce algae growth and harmful algal blooms, improve stormwater runoff quality, reduce erosion, and support the Reservoir's fishery through operation of a reservoir aeration system.

Your $3 helps keep Cherry Creek Reservoir healthier for recreation, wildlife, and future generations.
