Having been a police officer, I can't say "Thank You" enough to those that work inside the walls of the jail. It can be tough and demanding, but it can be rewarding too. To our corrections officers, thank you for the important work you do!
🚨National Correctional Officer Week May 3rd-9th 🚨
Sheriff Steve Sandvik and the entire team at the Mower County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Detention Deputies and jail staff of the Mower County Jail. The men and women of this organization are a tremendous asset to our agency, and community. Their dedication does not go unnoticed.
Correctional Officers/Detention Deputies and jail support staff work long hours in a demanding and often challenging environment. Their role goes far beyond supervision - it requires professionalism, vigilance, and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure. Day in and day out, they help maintain the safety, security, and order of our facility and community.
We are grateful for such a hardworking and dedicated group that make up our team. Their commitment and teamwork make a difference every single day. Please join us in thanking our jail staff for all that they do everyday of the year!
Happy National Corrections Officer Week!!!

The Mower County Board has considered many options to replace the outdated, inefficient, high maintenance Public Works buildings. It is important to know that this carefully thought out plan does not impact the tax levy. It will come from other funding sources. Please take time to read the "road map" for this project.
The Board of Commissioners has authorized the advancement of design plans for a new facility on the existing property. Please find additional details regarding the project below.

April 12-18 is National Public Safety Telecommunications Week! Dispatchers answer when people call for help. Dispatchers are the calm during the storm. Dispatchers are the first first responders. As a police officer I depended on dispatchers for important information on my way to a call, especially a violent or volatile call. They were my ears to tell me what I was going into. I appreciated them then and I appreciate them now. If you talk to a dispatcher, take time to say 'thank you'!

Every spring, there are axle weight restrictions put in place on certain roads in order to protect the integrity of our roads while the frost shifts and eventually comes out. These restrictions are guided by the state and typically last about 8 weeks. The new temporary weights will be posted on the effected roads. Here is a link to more information and a map. Safe travels!
https://www.co.mower.mn.us/1656/Spring-Load-Restrictions
🚛 Attention Heavy Vehicle Operators 🚛
Spring Load Restrictions will begin on Mower County roads on Tuesday, March 3 at 12:01 AM.
During the spring thaw, roadway base materials become saturated as frost leaves the ground. This significantly reduces pavement strength and load carrying capacity. Temporary axle weight limits are necessary to prevent damage and preserve the service life of the county highway system.
Restrictions will remain in effect until weather and pavement conditions allow for their removal. Updates will be posted as they become available.
Maps and additional information are available at:

Thank you for helping protect Mower County roads.
