Today’s Work Zone Awareness event, led by Texas Department of Transportation, brought together leaders from across the industry including AGC of Texas President Clint Henson, Texas Highway Patrol, EMS, and more—to deliver one clear message: slow down and stay alert in work zones.
Last year, 203 lives were lost in Texas work zones. Behind every number is a person, a family, and a community forever changed.
Road workers are out there every day building and maintaining the infrastructure we all rely on. Let’s do our part to keep them—and each other—safe.

Relationships aren’t the only things that require thoughtfulness, investment, and long-term commitment.
The future of our roads and bridges does, too, because good things don’t just happen by accident.

Winter weather is moving across Texas this weekend ❄️
If you must travel, please remember to slow down, allow extra time, and stay alert for changing road conditions.
🚧 Remember the Move Over or Slow Down law:
If you see emergency vehicles, TxDOT crews, or roadside assistance with flashing lights—move over a lane when possible or slow down. These crews are working to keep Texans safe.
Let’s all do our part to look out for one another. Stay safe and stay aware.

When there’s ice on the road, staying put is the safest call. Stay home, stay warm, and stay safe. Texas will still be there when the ice melts. Drive like a Texan: kind, courteous, and safe.
