Today, we want you to meet Namuliisa Sarah, our safe house nurse.
Sarah is one of the first safe adults a rescued child meets when she enters our safe house. With her calm voice and a simple but powerful reassurance, “You’re safe now,” a child begins to feel seen and protected.
Trained in child-friendly and trauma-informed health care, Sarah provides a safe, predictable environment that minimizes re-traumatization and fosters resilience. As she conducts check-ups and administers medication, she reminds children that it’s possible for an adult to touch them without hurting them.
You can also be that safe adult a child needs. Check out our Reports & Educational Materials

A child may smile and still be carrying fear, trauma, and confusion inside.
It’s important to look beyond what is visible. At Rescue One More, we see beyond what is visible.
We understand that healing is more than just physical; it’s spiritual, emotional, and psychological.
Through our psychosocial approach we help children:
• Process their experiences
• Rebuild trust
• Find their voice again
Today, we stand for every child whose pain is unseen.

Not all wounds are visible.
For many children who experience violence, the deepest scars are carried in their minds.
Mental health is not separate from child protection. It is part of it.
At Rescue One More, we don’t just remove children from harm, we walk with them through healing, counseling, safe spaces, and with consistent care, we help children begin again.
True justice is not only about rescue. It is about restoration.

Rescue work isn’t glamorous.
It’s long hours. Hard conversations. Paperwork at midnight. Tears in the bathroom. Prayers between appointments. And showing up again tomorrow, because one more child still needs saving.
To our team — the ones who choose this work every single day — thank you.
We wouldn’t be here without you. Neither would they.

In Uganda, more than 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 6 boys experience child sexual violence. They all have unique stories; however, a child’s journey to safety begins when a child or concerned adult finds the courage to speak up.
For too long, silence has kept children hidden in pain, but when we break the silence, everything begins to change.
In Q1 2026, Rescue One More saw the impact of that change through the following outcomes:
• 95 new cases were supported
• 29 children were rescued from dangerous situations
85 children received trauma counseling
• 50 perpetrators were arrested
6 perpetrators were convicted
• 8,700+ people were reached through our prevention and awareness program.
This impact is only possible because people like you choose to care, speak up, and stand with us. Thank you for being part of the change.

Imagine a child said these words to you.
Would you know how to respond? We hope so, because how you react and what you say could either open the door of healing or close it forever.
When a child speaks up:
▶️ Stay calm
▶️ Listen without interrupting
▶️ Let the child know you believe them and they didn’t do anything wrong
▶️ Take action, report to the police, and ensure the child is safe from the alleged perpetrator.

Did you know that about 1 in 10 Child Sexual Violence cases are never reported?
In Uganda, the law is clear: aggravated defilement carries a maximum sentence of death and defilement can lead to life sentence. Yet, the majority of child sexual violence cases never lead to justice.
That means many offenders walk free because children stay silent out of fear, pressure, or lack access to help.
It doesn’t have to stay this way, when a child reports or if you notice any sign of sexual violence against a child, report the case immediately.
Call the Uganda Child Helpline number: 116, or the police toll-free line: 0800-199-195.
