Tomorrow is our last Regular City Council Meeting of 2025! Time flies, but the work doesn’t stop. Here are a few key items we’ll be voting on:

🚴 Item 29 builds new shared-use paths along Burnet Road to give people safer options to walk and bike in one of the busiest corridors in District 4/7.

📊 Item 42 ratifies a contract for consulting services to help APD improve public safety practices, use-of-force policies, and data transparency.

🐾 Items 48 & 49 fund spay and neuter services, mobile clinics, and support for low-income pet owners to reduce overpopulation and keep animals healthy.

🏘️ Item 61 supports permanent supportive housing by funding on-site case management and wraparound services that help residents stay housed.

🚉 Item 69 appoints community members to the Project Connect Community Advisory Committee so riders and neighbors help shape Austin’s transit expansion.

At our November 20 Council meeting, we voted to move forward with acquiring new sidewalk, trail, and recreational space at 11201 Parkfield Drive — right on the D4/D7 border.

This investment directly serves the North Lamar neighborhood, one of the most park-deficient areas of North Austin, and will give families more connected outdoor space to walk, bike, and enjoy.

At our last Council meeting, I was proud to honor Open Door Preschools with a proclamation celebrating their 50 years of inclusive early childhood education in Austin.

Open Door has spent five decades proving that every child thrives when they learn together, and their commitment to equity, excellence, and community has made a lasting impact on our city.

Congratulations to Open Door on this milestone. Here’s to the next 50 years of opening doors for Austin families.
