Text to 911 is now available in Lonoke County!📱

Call if you can. Text if you can’t.

If you need to text 911:
• Enter 911 as the recipient
• Send your exact location first
• Briefly describe the emergency
• Answer the dispatcher’s questions
• Avoid abbreviations and emojis

This important service gives residents another way to reach emergency dispatchers when making a voice call is not possible or safe.

Our very own Mayor Bernie Chamberlain serves on the Lonoke County 911 Governing Board, and we are thankful for her contributions, along with those of the other board members and the 911 Center Director, Beth Johnson.

Please help us spread the word so our community knows: Call if you can. Text if you can’t.

Good morning, Austin! As a friendly reminder, Highway 38 near North Lincoln Street is an active work zone and will remain so for the foreseeable future. This is a dangerous intersection, and our officers respond to a large number of traffic accidents at this location. Please slow down, remain alert, and use caution while traveling through the area.

Fines are doubled in work zones (when workers are present). Our officers do not want to issue citations; however, the safety of the work crews and all motorists traveling through the area remains a priority. Citations will be issued when necessary.

For the traffic signal installation schedule at the intersection of North Lincoln Street and Highway 38, along with additional project information, visit: https://austin-ar.com/news-detail?item_id=33923

Thank you for helping keep our workers, officers, motorists, and community safe.

The Austin Police Department would like to remind citizens of the permitted fireworks times for the holiday weekend, next weekend.

Fireworks may only be used until 10:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3rd, and until 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 4th. Discharge of fireworks beyond this, could result in an ordinance violation warning/citation.

Please remember that no fireworks shall be used or exploded on private property without the property owner’s written consent. As always, please be respectful of your neighbors, celebrate safely, and be sure to clean up any trash or debris after using fireworks.

The full ordinance is located below.

As a reminder, 911 should NOT be used for non-emergency firework complaints. Any complaints that are not an emergency should be made to the Austin Police Department dispatch line at: (501) 566-1223.

We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Independence Day weekend, next weekend!

We want to kindly remind everyone that if you see something suspicious, need an officer, or have concerns about activity in your area, please contact our dispatch center so we can respond appropriately.

This may include things such as solicitors, reckless driving, suspicious activity, illegal activity, or anything else that causes concern. While sharing information in private Facebook groups can be helpful for neighbors, it does not notify the Police Department or allow us to respond. Please make sure to contact dispatch directly so an officer can be sent if needed.

For non-emergency assistance, call 501-566-1223.
For emergencies, always dial 911.

We are happy to serve our community and are here to respond when you need us. Thank you for helping us keep Austin safe, informed, and connected!
