Addressing food insecurity in Austin and Travis County

And what does the Lord require of you? Micah 6:8 Each week the pantry serves 450-500 families.

To do justice and to love kindness and to
walk humbly with your God. Micah 6 is coalition of 11 congregations that collectively operate a food pantry, drop-in center for street youth, and a freeze night shelter near the University of Texas. The drop-in center serves 15-30 youth every Sunday. Volunteers come from member congregations, other congregations, UT student groups or have no affiliation beyond wanting to join in the important work of feeding hungry residents of Austin.

Thank you! Micah 6 came in second in the human services category for nonprofits with budgets of $100,000 to $500,000 and every dollar raised on Amplify Austin Day was matched by our Board of Directors.

Each Saturday, unhoused young adults enjoy a home cooked meal provided by one of our member congregation or other groups. Thank you to The Church at Highland Park for preparing a wonderful Thanksgiving meal for our neighbors who come to the Street Youth Drop-in Center this coming Saturday!

Join us to make home-cooked meals for youth living on the street at Micah 6’s Youth Drop-In Center. 🥗🍝🥘

This weekend, church member Don Dillard will pick meals up on Saturday, 11/22, and deliver them to Micah 6. We are looking for volunteers to cook meals for a December 20th drop off—please contact the church office if you’re interested!

Micah 6’s Street Youth Program serves young adults (30 and under) who are street-dependent. Each Saturday, guests can enjoy a quiet, air-conditioned space with free Wi-Fi, games, comfortable couches, and charging stations.

Every Saturday, guests enjoy a home-cooked hot meal, with generous seconds. Each meal is prepared by a volunteer church member and contains a main dish, two sides, a bread option, and dessert. Meals are delivered by The Church at HP volunteers to the Drop-in Center on a predetermined Saturday afternoon.
