UA Local 286 Plumbers & Pipefitters

Our 286 Training Team is working hard with other UA training departments from Local Unions from all across the Southeast to determine who is the best Apprentice Welder, Pipefitter, Plumber and HVAC Service Technician in District 3!

A big shout out and well wishes for our own Taylor Blake Coe as he competes against the best of the best UA welder apprentices from across the Southeast United States!

Congratulations to all our graduating Apprentices! We celebrated their completion of their 5 year journey yesterday evening.

Electricity went off here at Hall so we have lost phones and internet, Austin Energy estimates getting it back on around one pm so be patient if you are trying to get a hold of us here.

Brother Gary Moore came to the Union Meeting last night and received his 40 year membership certificate and pin, congratulations to Brother Moore!

UA 286 was happy to host this graduation, and 5 of those 18 apprenticeship readiness graduates are going to work for our Signatory Contractors!

This May, we recognize . The construction industry faces unique challenges that affect mental wellbeing. Let’s stand together, look out for one another, and keep the conversation going—on and off the jobsite.

As we wrap up National Apprenticeship Week, we realize that we have not posted anything about it. The main reason for this is we live it and breath it every-single-day. 365 days a year Apprenticeship is on our mind, it is part of the fuel ( the other fuel being organizing) that drives the engine of our Local Union. Our 100+ year existence is not just because we band together to collectively bargain for better wages, healthcare and pension benefits, it is the fact that we constantly bring new folks into our organization with little or no experience and train them to be the best piping industry workers available in the workforce. As our members go into retirement, there is always another apprentice to go in their place and hundreds of Journeyman to train them just as that retiree trained those Journeyman.
