This is a purrrrfect example of Texas firefighters - like those from Spring Fire Department - answering the call, no matter what it entails. It's all part of !
In the pic: Spring Fire Apparatus Operator Johnathan Lumpkin rescues a kitten from a storm drain in Birnham Wood.

Welcome to Texas, where about 65% of the state is covered by volunteer fire departments. Firefighters across Texas are currently preparing for (or even dealing with) wildfires while also paying attention to hurricane season.
And even though hurricanes typically hit coastal areas, extended rains and high winds can cause severe flooding and other issues far inland. This can lead to victims being rescued, downed power lines, blocked roadways and more.
So many Texas volunteer fire departments could use additional support in the form of donations (financial, or possibly supplies and drinking water) and time - volunteers are always welcome! Check with your local volunteer fire department to see how you can best help.

Thanks to the SFFMA districts that submitted nominations for the Firefighter of the Year Award. And shoutout to Casco Industries, Inc. for donating the helmet for the winner! We remain grateful for their continued support.

Caddo Mills Fire Rescue
Crocsy is sporting some new jewelry that was left at the station by an awesome citizen, and ever since then this pink plastic menace has become absolutely unbearable. One ride in the fire truck and now Crocsy thinks they’ve got 17 years on the job, a pension, and authority issues.
This morning Crocsy climbed into the officer seat, screamed “MY ENGINE,” and refused to move until someone handed over a radio. When the tones dropped, Crocsy launched off the dashboard so fast they hit the windshield, bounced off the iPad, and somehow still tried to give route suggestions to the driver.
Things really got weird when Crocsy started critiquing the crew after the call by saying things like, “Little sloppy on the hydrant hookup, boys,” despite literally being a foam shoe with rhinestones glued to it.
The Captain attempted to place Crocsy back on the dashboard, but Crocsy reportedly yelled, “YOU’LL NEVER UNDERSTAND TRUCK WORK,” before falling into the cup holder at approximately 35 mph.
Send help!
