Austin has lost a great public servant. Our thoughts go out to the entire Austin Fire Department family and Chief Maher’s family as they go through this difficult time. Rest easy Chief.

We lost one of our own this morning. Officer Anthony "Tony" Martin served the city of Austin with excellence for over 16 years and he will be profoundly missed. Our hearts are with his family as they grieve this sudden and tragic loss.

Another victim of a "reimagined" Academy & questionable decision by Chief Chacon to remove a motivational sign in the Academy's gym. Some say the saying goes back to an old Chinese proverb: The more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in battle. We encourage our officers to train hard & be prepared for the harsh realities of police work. The inspirational sign was donated to the Academy by the 115th Cadet Class. Who knows where it is going to now??
