The COVID 19 related Continuing Education waiver for license renewals ended on January 1, 2022. All renewals occurring on or after April 1, 2022, will be required to have completed all required continuing education for the license renewal.

House Bill 2174, 86th Texas Legislature, Mandatory electronic controlled substances (Schedules II through V)
TBVME has received several calls relating to House Bill 2174, filed during the 86th Texas Legislative Session, which requires that electronic controlled substances (Schedules II through V) prescribing began on January 1, 2021.
Veterinarians are exempt from the requirements of electronic controlled substances (Schedules II through V) prescribing.

Information from DSHS Relating to Veterinarians and COVID-19 Vaccine
According to the guidelines issued by the Department of State Health Services, veterinarians and their employees are not considered front-line healthcare workers and may not be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine under this eligibility. Questions about vaccine eligibility should be directed to either the Department of State Health Services or your local health authority.
