It's day three of our DRE School hosted by the Jersey Village Police Department. DRE instructors, Ryan Musil and Travis Trotti present the Physiology and Drugs session. We have 23 participants, representing 13 different agencies in attendance.

It was a pleasure to welcome Britt to speak at our Cedar Park DRE school this week. Her inspiring story of recovery turned advocacy served to strengthen the DRE candidates' resolve to continue the fight to end impaired driving. We welcome her to Texas and are glad to have her as a partner and supporter.

People may ask, was this a lack of training, a lack of confidence in the training they had, or a poor attitude toward impaired driving enforcement? While not making guesses in this case, we can say that our training programs address all three issues.

Our free, TxDOT grant funded training provides officers with the skills, confidence, and abilities to recognize and investigate impairment to prevent tragedies such as this. All of this is done through our cadre of experienced instructors who set the tone as mentors and positive advocates for the relentless pursuit of the impaired driver. Preventing impaired driving requires continued education, training, and a shared commitment to keeping Texas roadways safe. Our law-enforcement drug and alcohol training programs help officers recognize and respond to impaired driving through proven, standardized instruction.
We provide the following training opportunities across Texas:
• Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST)
• Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE)
• Drug Impairment Training for Educational Professionals (DITEP)
• Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) training

These programs equip law-enforcement professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to identify impairment, support safer communities, and help prevent injuries and death before they occur.

Thanks to the generous support of a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation’s Behavioral Traffic Safety Unit, we are able to bring this critical training opportunities to law-enforcement agencies across Texas at no cost.

We recently completed a Drug Recognition Expert School to provide the San Antonio Police Department DWI and Traffic Unit officers with the skills to battle impaired driving in the Alamo City.
