"During the current economic downturn, CRM is on an upswing -- revitalizing an old building, creating community and positioning more people for a sustainable financial future."

We can all feel the economic landscape changing and the time is coming for a reboot of CRM. Whether it comes forward as The Grassroots Marketplace, Tannehill Marketville Collective or under another name, the mission will be the same: provide a place for people to get started. We've been acculturated to try to become millionaires, however the truth is that most folks could change their lives with an additional $500/month.

During the session, panelists Ertharin Cousin of Food Systems for the Future, Jeremy Coller of FAIRR, Mahesh Roy of IIGCC, and Zitouni Ould-Dada of the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization underscored the importance of investing in food systems transformation.

To advance this goal, Roy, IIGCC’s Director of Investor Strategies Programme, shared that the Net Zero Investment Framework (NZIF) will classify agriculture, forestry, and fisheries as a high impact sector.

“IIGCC has upgraded agriculture, forestry and fishing to a high impact sector in the Net Zero Investment Framework, meaning global investors will have the same expectations of companies in these sectors as they do with fossil fuel firms,” Roy says.

NZIF is the most widely used net zero framework for investors, helping them develop net zero targets and transition plans. The reclassification means that the agriculture sector is being recognized for the “substantial greenhouse gas emissions” created during operations.

“Based on data on 2,900 founders of new ventures in Germany in 2008–2017, we found that for every ten more years of age increases a founder’s likelihood to introduce a market novelty by up to 30 percent. Thus, those late-career entrepreneurs who are highly innovation-oriented and managerially experienced are more than three times more likely to introduce market novelties than the sample average. In terms of sales, ten additional years of age means about 35,000 euros more sales from innovations per year, which is about 26% more than the sample average. The positive impact of founder’s age on novel products or/and services continues up until their retirement.”
