Shame on AT&T for having their lobbyist, Jo Cassandra Cuevas, support overturning local ordinances that regulate texting while driving. Looks like the governor's misguided effort to replace strong ordinances with the watered-down state law passed passed this spring has failed as there are not enough votes to pass House Bill 171 out of the House Transportation Committee.

Rather than undoing Austin's enforceable ordinance, Texas should be adopting it as a statewide standard.
