Even though we celebrate all year long, June is set aside to recognize the freedom and liberty that we each have to live and love autonomously.

This month and every month, we stand in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ friends and neighbors. While we have made tremendous progress and obstacles continue to arise - Thank you for making Texas a place where Y’all means all!

While we are waiting for some close calls in races across Harris County - Congratulations to our newest Nominees for elected office!

With nearly 30 years of GOP majority control and shaping policy in Texas, our schools are failing students and teachers, our state faces growing water shortages and grid insecurity, and wages have not kept pace with inflation, leaving working families struggling to achieve financial stability.

Real change in Texans’ quality of life will require a more equitable balance of power,  one that restores healthy debate, accountability, and bipartisan compromise focused on the interests of all Texans.

Today is Election Day for the Party Primary Run-Offs! Make your voice heard on who will be your candidates in the November midterms today!

Let us pause to recognize and honor the courageous service members who have sacrificed themselves, as well as their surviving families, for our freedoms.

Let us also pause to honor the lives of the countless indigenous people and other Americans who have also sacrificed immeasurably through service that history has not always recognized.

May this 250th Anniversary of our Nation’s founding mark the time of coming together of all people and strengthening our commitment to peace in the world for all, and the sacrifices it has taken to sustain its promise for a nation for all.

The has already begun discussing Election issues that could shape how future elections are run across the state.

At Thursday’s House Elections Committee hearing, we heard testimony that focused on election audits, ballot privacy, citizenship and voting, election timelines, and the growing staffing challenges facing local election offices.

While these hearings may seem preemptive as we wait to see the 2026 November Election results, they matter because it is a clear signal on what policy changes may be proposed in the 2027 legislative session.

This Mother’s Day, we reflect on the wonders of motherhood (naturally encumbered with challenges- perhaps both for moms and children).

It’s miraculous, astounding, Godly, and so so much more, and many ways to describe the gift of motherhood. More than anything, it’s an experience like no other, filled with endless learning, growth opportunities, and love.

Feeling grateful for all the wonderful moms and women who were maternal figures to those who needed it. Thank you.

NAKASEC’s newest branch opened this week in House District 148, at the Korean Community Center of Houston. It’s encouraging to welcome their team and celebrate the work they will continue to do to engage and advocate for the local community civically.

Even though visiting the Bullock Texas State History Museum is free for student groups - the cost of transportation and lunches have hindered thousands of students to learn the story of our Lone Star State.
