1887-the Texas State Capitol under construction in Austin! Covering 22 acres in downtown Austin's heart, it was once the seventh largest building in the world. Today, it still holds the title as the largest state capitol in the U.S., though not the tallest. Fun fact for your next dinner chat: the rotunda stretches 266 feet from the terrazzo star on the floor to the bronze star at the top!
