MONDAY! MONDAY! MONDAY!
IN THIS CORNER, WEIGHING IN AT PURE DETERMINATION AND FUELED BY ADRENALINE... DAKOTA "THE DESTROYER" ADAMSON
DAKOTA ADAMSON walked into the EMS arena 7.5 years ago just to "see what it was like" – AND THEN DISCOVERED HIS ULTIMATE DESTINY! This warrior didn't just find a job, folks – HE FOUND HIS CALLING!
Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for Dakota's DEVASTATING skill set:
JUJITSU MASTER – This grappling MACHINE has the submission skills to dominate any opponent! Ground game? UNMATCHED!
BACKFLIP SPECIALIST – While other paramedics are walking, Dakota's doing BACKFLIPS! Gravity is just a suggestion to this aerial ASSASSIN!
THE DOOR DESTROYER – Legend has it Dakota once RIPPED A DOOR OFF ITS HINGES WITH HIS BARE HANDS to rescue a patient! No door stands between Dakota and saving lives!
But wait! There's MORE! This isn't just some meathead with muscles (though those muscles are IMPRESSIVE)! When Dakota's off the clock, you'll find him:
• READING like Alex Periera met Mark Twain and created excellence.
• COOKING gourmet meals that would make Gordon Ramsay weep.
• RELAXING with his beautiful wife and NEW SON.
• STUDYING THE USS LEXINGTON – This naval buff is learning about the most decorated ships in history.
Dakota's downtime training includes:
• LIFTING WEIGHTS – Building the strength needed to rip more doors off hinges!
• PLAYING POOL – Precision, strategy, DOMINATION of the table!
• BATTLE STUDY – More USS Lexington research because knowledge is POWER!
Even LEGENDS need to refuel! Dakota powers up with:
• THAI FOOD – Explosive flavors for explosive performance!
• ENCHILADAS – The champion's choice!
• CUPCAKES – Because even the toughest warriors have a sweet side!
Dakota Adamson is a backflipping, jujitsu-rolling, door-ripping, history-studying, family-loving, cupcake-eating FORCE OF NATURE! He didn't choose this life, this life chose him. And he answered that call with the fury of a thousand monster trucks and the precision of a UFC champion!

Today we recognized our incredible crew, Paramedic Jeff Hennes, Paramedic Kelsey Manak and Battalion Chief Robert Franco (not pictured) for their quick thinking and expert level skills on scene that resulted in a life saved! The crew also mentioned they could not have done what they did without the help of the family. Civilian CPR was performed while the medics were en route which was a major factor in the success of the patient.
(A Phoenix award is given when a crew is able to revive a patient who's heart has completely stopped and that same patient is discharged from the hospital afterward without any neurological deficit. This award is rare and well worth celebrating.)

SARAI GODINEZ: THE TOTAL IT GIRL OF EMS
Sarai Godinez, who is literally SO fetch, has been working in EMS for five whole years, which is like, a really long time when you think about it? I mean, most people can barely commit to a hair color for that long, and here she is saving lives and stuff. And why would someone like Sarai choose emergency medicine? She wanted to help others! It's like she's basically Cher Horowitz but with, like, actual medical training. She saw people who needed help and was all "As if I'm going to just stand by and do nothing!" Very civic-minded of her.
Okay, so get this… Sarai is the youngest of twelve children. TWELVE! Can you even imagine? That's like, a whole classroom worth of siblings! No wonder she's so good at dealing with emergencies, she basically trained her whole life for chaos management.
When Sarai's not busy being a total life-saving hero, she enjoys reading by the pool. Which is like, SO civilized and sophisticated. Poolside with the perfect aesthetic is a very Cher-approved activity, if you ask me.
Her downtime is spent with her friends because hello, what's the point of having a fabulous life if you can't share it with your crew?
Now here's where things get relatable. Sarai's special talent is losing her debit card. Like, constantly. Most people can juggle or whistle or whatever, but Sarai? She can make a debit card disappear faster than you can say "retail therapy." The bank probably knows her by voice at this point. It's honestly kind of iconic.
Her next vacation destination is Cancun, which is like, totally the right choice. I mean, why would you go anywhere without beaches, sunshine, and frozen drinks with little umbrellas?
Sarai's favorite sweet treat is frozen yogurt, which is like, the most socially conscious dessert choice ever! It's ice cream, but make it sophisticated. And her favorite food is Vietnamese cuisine, which just proves she has excellent taste.
If you think you know a more influential girl in EMS, whatever! Sarai is like, everyone’s favorite EMT.
P.S. – If you find Sarai's debit card, like, please return it. She's probably already ordered a replacement, but still. It's the principle of the thing!

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Lieutenant/Paramedic Eric Spillar on January 13, 2026. Today as he is laid to rest, we pause to honor Eric’s life, service, and the lasting impact he had on the Buda Fire Department and those who served alongside him.
Lieutenant Spillar was born on September 22, 1982, and was hired by the Buda Fire Department on September 7, 2010. Throughout his career, Eric demonstrated professionalism, compassion, and leadership. He was a dedicated firefighter and paramedic, a trusted officer, and a friend to many within Buda Fire Department.
Eric is survived by his wife, Kimberly Ann Spillar, his daughter, Brooklynn, and his son, Pierce. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and fellow firefighters during this difficult time.
Eric will be remembered for his service, his commitment to this profession, and the relationships he built within the Fire and EMS service.

One Wednesday of each month, our Medical Director takes our crews on a deep dive through a specific medical topic. This month, Dr. Katherine Remick spoke on neurological events and focused on identification and medical management. Does your medical director do that?? 😉

Consider donating. If you are unable to make these dates, look for coming announcements for a drive in Dripping Springs on February 14!
We Are Blood will re-open all donor centers at noon on Tuesday with plenty of available appointments and a critical need for blood donations, especially from our O type and platelet donors. After two days of center closures and blood drive cancellations, hundreds of needed donations have been lost. Can you help our community recover? Book an appointment this week as we return to regular hours of operation and receive a free small ThunderCloud Subs for helping out.

Meet Greg Francescon, a man who traded stadium lights for ambulance sirens and hasn't looked back for 4.5 glorious years!
Why did this absolute legend choose emergency medicine? Most people would say "to help humanity" or something noble like that. Not Greg! This madman gets into EMS because he enjoys being woken up in the middle of the night. That’s rock and roll, baby!
Before Greg was saving lives, he was a professional musician living that wild rock & roll lifestyle. He knows what it's like to command a stage, work a crowd, and make magic happen under pressure. Turns out those skills translate perfectly to emergency medicine. Need proof? This man can do his own hair and makeup for the stage (wink wink). We're talking FULL glam rock transformation, people! Aqua Net? Check. Eyeliner sharper than a scalpel? Double check! When you've mastered the art of big hair in the '80s, intubating under pressure is basically child's play!
When Greg's not answering emergency calls or reminiscing about his glory days on stage, you'll find him doing one of two things: Fishing or napping. When he's not doing either of those, he's hunting and hanging with his family, because real rockstars know what matters: good times with good people and the great outdoors!
Greg's next vacation destination is the Pacific Northwest to watch his beloved Seattle Seahawks dominate on the field. Simply put, football stadiums hit that sweet spot between nostalgia and pure adrenaline.
Greg's dietary preferences are as legendary as he is: his favorite foods are pizza, tacos and the holy grail, pizza tacos! Why choose between two perfect things when you can combine them into one glorious fusion of deliciousness?! His favorite sweet treat is whatever is in front of him. No time for complicated dessert menus when you're living life at maximum volume. The one thing he won’t touch is eggs. Greg has drawn his line in the sand, and that line is egg-free. Even rockstars have boundaries.
Greg Francescon went from playing sold-out shows to saving actual lives, and he's doing it all with the same passion, energy, and perfectly styled hair he brought to every stage! Rock on, Greg. Rock on. 🤘
