❤️🍪 A sweet treat with a powerful impact. 🍪❤️
This week, Austin-area Chick-fil-A restaurants had the honor of presenting Mobile Loaves & Fishes with a donation from our Cookies for a Cause campaign—and we’re so grateful for what this generosity will do in our community.
Because of every cookie purchased, every guest who said “yes” to supporting the cause, and every team member who helped share the mission, we were able to help make a meaningful difference for our neighbors experiencing homelessness.
At Chick-fil-A, we believe even small acts of kindness can create big impact—and this partnership with Mobile Loaves & Fishes is a beautiful reminder of that.
Thank you to our incredible guests and community for helping turn cookies into care. Your generosity is helping bring hope, dignity, and support to those who need it most. ❤️

On this episode of the Gospel Con Carne podcast, Alan sits down with our neighbor and friend, Brenda!
Born and raised in Midland and one of 14 siblings, Brenda’s life has been marked by both deep love and deep hardship. After losing her sense of identity and falling into addiction, Brenda spent more than a decade living on the streets of Austin. This experience humbled her in ways she never imagined. In the midst of it all, Brenda made the incredibly difficult decision to entrust her young daughter to her father, knowing she couldn’t raise her child on the streets. However, through every season, Brenda's daughter and family never stopped loving her.
Everything began to change when Brenda connected with a case worker through the Trinity Center, which ultimately led her to Community First! Village. Since moving into the Village in 2018, Brenda has rediscovered who she is—reclaiming her name, her purpose and her sense of self-worth. Today, she loves cooking, enjoys working onsite, and recently moved into a new PMRV on our expansion property. Most of all, she cherishes the friendships she’s built and the community she now calls home.
In this episode, Brenda reminds us to never say never, to discover who we truly are and to hold tightly to our self-worth. Listen to her full story “Becoming Whole Again, with my Neighbor Brenda” on Spotify, iTunes or at mlf.org/gospel-con-carne-podcast!

At Community First! Village, we are building community within community—and this happens through intentionality. With our Neighborhoods of Knowingness, Mobile Loaves & Fishes is creating spaces where our Missional neighbors—men and women who are not formerly homeless but choose to live and serve in the Village as part of their mission field—can live alongside neighbors who are transitioning from life on the streets. With a mix of home models, including family homes, arranged in pockets of 40–50 homes around shared gathering spaces, these neighborhoods are designed for presence and relationships.
This is more than thoughtful architecture—it is a daily commitment to know and to be known; to share meals, build friendships and walk with one another in community. As the Village continues to grow, we are inviting the greater Austin community to partner with us—helping shape neighborhoods rooted in belonging and connection.
