Texas State Guard Service Members received training to become certified Emergency Tracking Network (ETN) operators.
ETN is an app-based system that helps emergency responders accurately and efficiently track people, pets, and assets during evacuations and relocation to shelters. By providing authorities with real-time information, ETN supports faster, better-informed disaster response decisions and helps protect our communities.

Guardsmen of 4th Battalion and from across 2nd Brigade, Texas State Guard, with prior federal military service, staff a recruiting booth at the 29th Annual Retiree Appreciation Day, hosted by the Houston Area Retiree Council, at the Joint Reserve Center, Ellington Field, Houston, Texas, August 29, 2026. Having served federally before joining the Texas State Guard, all guardsmen present were better able to connect to other former federal military service members who miss the sense of purpose and structure and explain how the Texas State Guard is an excellent opportunity to continue to serve. The TXSG values prior military experience and offers a way to continue making a difference while staying connected to a proud tradition of service. They also explained the role of the Texas State Guard, providing disaster response and support during hurricanes, floods and other emergencies. Guardsmen assist local and state authorities as needed, from providing the Emergency Tracking Network and shelter operations, to search and rescue, damage assessment and logistics support. It’s also a meaningful option for individuals who, for various reasons, may not have qualified for active duty or Reserve components but still want to serve their community and state. Well done all! Be there when Texans need you most. Serve your community. Serve your state. Serve for the love of Texas. Texas State Guard.

Never forget.

Never forget.

Never Forget.
On September 11, 2001, our nation was attacked. Nearly 3,000 innocent lives were taken in New York, at the Pentagon, and in a field in Pennsylvania. Families were forever changed. First responders ran toward danger. Ordinary Americans showed extraordinary courage.

We remember them today with reverence.

We honor the firefighters, police officers, emergency medical personnel, and military members who answered the call that morning and in the years that followed. We honor every service member who has stood watch since that day. We honor the families who still carry the loss.

The Texas State Guard stands with our fellow Texans and with all Americans in solemn remembrance. Our mission remains what it has always been: to serve, to stand ready, and to protect those we are sworn to defend.

May we never forget the lives lost.

May we never forget the courage shown.

May we never forget the duty that day placed upon all of us.

Duty First. Texas Always.
