For National Trails Day this year, the U.S. Forest Service today announced an additional 2026 recreation fee-free day. Enjoy free access to national forests and grasslands as we come together to appreciate the beauty of our natural landscapes. Trails connect us to the land that supports Texas agriculture: clean water, healthy soil, and thriving ecosystems all start here.

Commissioner Sid Miller and the Texas Department of Agriculture extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and countless listeners of Jim Stewart. For decades, Jim was a trusted voice in West Texas agriculture, keeping farmers, ranchers, and rural communities informed through his work on radio and agricultural broadcasting on KRFE 95.9FM - AM580. His passion for agriculture, commitment to honest reporting, and deep love for the South Plains made him a respected figure across Texas.

Jim’s contributions to our industry and the relationships he built with generations of producers will not be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones and all those whose lives he touched.
