AACHF is part of the Austin Arts, Culture, Music, and Entertainment (AACME), which is committed to fostering a vibrant, creative ecosystem that celebrates and supports Austin's artists, musicians, entertainment venues, and cultural institutions. AACME is a centralized hub offering resources, funding opportunities, and strategic programs that promote local talent and drive economic growth.

The AACHF plays an integral role in the City of Austin’s long-term commitment to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for African Americans. Named after the state-designated African American Cultural Heritage District, the Facility adds to the area’s cultural significance by offering arts, business, cultural, and entertainment programming.

The AACHF's purpose is to preserve, promote, and celebrate the rich heritage and cultural contributions of African Americans. It aims to educate and foster conversations about the history, achievements, and challenges of African Americans through various exhibits, programs, and events. The facility also serves as a hub for community engagement, fostering a sense of pride, unity, and understanding among people of all backgrounds.
