🔥🚒 IT’S FIRE PREVENTION WEEK! 🚒🔥
Fire Prevention Week is a reminder that while firefighters are always ready to respond, the best fire is the one that never starts. This year’s theme, “Charge into Fire Safety,” focuses on safely using and charging the many devices we rely on every day.
But fire prevention goes far beyond charging our devices. Fire Prevention Week is also a great reminder to make sure your home and family are prepared.
🚨 CHECK YOUR SMOKE ALARMS
Make sure you have working smoke alarms on every level of your home and outside sleeping areas. Test them regularly and replace alarms when needed. This year especially has been a reminder to all that SMOKE DETECTORS SAVE LIVES!
🧯 KNOW YOUR FIRE EXTINGUISHER
Make sure you have the right type of fire extinguisher readily available and that everyone in your household knows where it is. When in doubt, get out and call 911.
🏠 HAVE AN ESCAPE PLAN
Know at least two ways out of every room and establish a meeting place outside. Practice your escape plan with everyone in your household.
⚡ CHARGE SAFELY
Use the correct charger, charge devices on a hard surface, and never charge damaged or swollen batteries. Keep charging devices away from anything that can burn.
🔥 PREVENT FIRES BEFORE THEY START
Never leave cooking unattended, keep heating equipment away from anything that can burn, and keep matches and lighters away from children.
Fire Prevention Week isn’t just about learning what to do when a fire happens. It’s about learning what we can do today to help prevent that fire from happening at all. Take a few minutes this week to check your smoke alarms, look over your fire extinguishers, review your family’s escape plan, and make sure you’re charging your devices safely.
A little prevention today can make a life-saving difference tomorrow. ❤️🚒
