📚🔐 Ever wonder what those lockers outside the library are for? Let me let you in on a little secret! 😉

Life gets busy, work schedules don’t always cooperate, and sometimes it’s just hard to make it to the library during our regular hours. That’s why we have our book lockers!

All you have to do is send us a message right here on Facebook or email [email protected] with the book you’d like. Can’t decide what to read? Just tell me “surprise me!” and I’ll pick something out for you! 📖 You’ll receive a locker code, and you’re all set to pick up your next read when it works for you. Easy peasy!

💕 Today, we had our VERY FIRST locker user — Skylar L.!

I was so excited to help her get a new book, and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect! We just received a bunch of new books, so a “surprise me” request was extra fun today. One simple message, one locker code, and Skylar is heading into the weekend with a new book to enjoy! 🥰📚

This is just one more way we’re trying to make your public library work for YOU! We want reading to be easy, convenient, and accessible for everyone in our community.

So spread the word! You don’t have to wait until you can make it inside the library to get your next book. Send me a message, let me play book matchmaker, and let’s get you reading! ❤️📚

A few of Katie’s best friends from college took time off work and drove from Lincoln, Omaha, and Fremont to host our Pre-K Book Club yesterday! Katie has been gushing about it for years so they had to see what the fuss was all about!

They rocked hosting! We had a great turnout and “Little Blue Truck” was a favorite of many! After a very animated, animal noise filled book the kids talked about kindness and friendship, drove an imaginary truck around the library, got to play animal noise bingo, and enjoy delicious snacks!

Thank you to Shayna Cook, Jenn Coffman, Kelly Koch, and Lindsay Shannon for such a fun morning and for supporting Axtell Library!!

Thank you also to the Nebraska Library Commission for their generous grant that allowed us to purchase copies of the books for all the kids to take home! A project that was supported in part by state aid funding appropriated by the NE legislature.

🎉 BINGO TODAY! 🎉

Join us this afternoon from 3:30–4:20 PM for some bingo fun! 🥳

We’ve had such great numbers since school started, averaging around 30 kids each Tuesday! ❤️ We absolutely love seeing so many kids come in, have fun, and enjoy a little friendly competition.

With those numbers, we’re also going through our bingo prizes pretty quickly and are currently running low! If you’d like to help us keep bingo going, we’re always looking for donations of:

🍬 Individually wrapped candy — a big favorite with the kids!
🍿 Small snacks — these are usually the first things to go! I try to limit it to one snack item per kid on Tuesdays so everyone has a chance to get one.
🎁 Small prizes — fun, kid-friendly prizes are always appreciated!
🏆 Larger prizes — for our weekly Blackout Bingo prize.

We usually do one Blackout prize each Tuesday, although sometimes the kids ask super nicely for a second one… and every now and then we give in! 😂

If you’re able to donate, every little bit helps us keep Tuesday bingo going for all of these kiddos. We’re so thankful for everyone who helps fill our prize bucket and makes bingo possible! 💙

See you at bingo today! 🎉
