For the last two days, the Baileyville Police Department hosted an active shooter training at the Baileyville High School.
In attendance were officers from Baileyville, Calais, Pleasant Point, University of Maine, the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, US Customs, US Border Patrol, the United States Coast Guard, and numerous FBI agents.
I would like to thank Verne McMoarn and the ALERRT New England Region Active Shooter Program team for the excellent training. I would also like to thank the superintendent and teaching staff for being good sports and helping out, the IT department for making sure we had internet and helping out with the video, and last but not least, Craig Croman for making sure we had everything we needed in the school.
I am going to work with this team to provide future trainings for my officers and surrounding officers to better prepare for the chance of a serious event in our area.

Today there was an incident involving juveniles at the Circle K on Main Street in Baileyville.
Even though no one called the pd directly, we were made aware of the post and the on duty officer located the three juveniles involved.
The on duty officer spoke with the parents, who agreed to address the issue with the juveniles.
In the future, please call the emergency line or the non emergency line so the on duty officer can respond quicker.

Today, I present Cpl. Daniel Borden and Officer Mackenzie Hewitt with Life Saving Awards.

The two responded to a medical call on March 19 2026 where a woman was down do to a cardiac event. Their quick response and training were key factors in saving this woman’s life. I am extremely proud of both officers and the way they represented the Police Department and the Town. Congratulations on a job well done.
