🚨 SEE LIGHTS? HEAR SIRENS? MOVE TO THE RIGHT. 🚨
When you hear sirens or see flashing lights, it’s not just a courtesy—it’s the law.
1️⃣ Signal
2️⃣ Move to the RIGHT
3️⃣ Stop until the emergency vehicle passes.
Every second counts when we are responding to an emergency. Help us help them!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and BIFD would like to highlight the importance of taking time to focus on what you need to keep your mental health a top priority.
BIFD takes our responders' mental health very seriously and supports a progressive Peer Support program. Peer Support Team members are trained in critical incident identification and intervention. Their goal is to foster a culture of resilience while maintaining an accepting, vulnerable atmosphere for responders to engage in difficult conversations about what may be ailing them.

Last month, our crews responded to 301 calls for service across the community. Emergency medical aid continues to account for the majority of our work. No matter the call, our crews are ready 24/7 to respond when our community needs help.

Kitsap 911 has implemented AI-assisted technology on its new non-emergency phone line at 360-328-7711.
Every day, Kitsap 911 answers both emergency and non-emergency calls from our community. While every call matters, not every situation requires an emergency response. AI-assisted technology can help answer routine questions, collect information, and connect callers with the right resources more quickly.
What does that mean for the community?
🚨 Faster access to emergency call takers during critical incidents
📞 Reduced wait times for non-emergency callers
👩💻 Better support for dispatch staff during high call volumes
⏱ More efficient service overall
Artificial intelligence will not replace our telecommunicators. It is a tool designed to support the professionals who remain at the center of emergency communications every day.
The non-emergency line should be used for situations that do not require an immediate police, fire, or medical response, including noise complaints, parking concerns, abandoned vehicles, crimes that are not currently in progress, or incidents that occurred earlier and are being reported after the fact, such as thefts, vandalism, or property damage. Emergencies or situations involving an immediate threat to life, safety, or property should still be reported to 911.
For non-emergency assistance, call 360-328-7711.

Meet Ronnie Saez, a dedicated Firefighter/EMT who has been serving with the Bainbridge Island Fire Department (BIFD) for the past year and a half. Her journey into the fire service began as a wildland firefighter at the Naches Ranger Station for the United States Forest Service. That experience sparked a deep-seated desire to protect the very community she grew up in. Off-duty, Ronnie enjoys staying active, watching soccer, and attending live concerts. She enjoys quality time with her friends, family, and her one-eyed French Bulldog, Frank—all while occasionally revisiting her favorite film, Rat Race.
