Volunteer Spotlight: Sarah!
Meet Sarah, one of our amazing Monday morning Food Bank Desk volunteers! Sarah has been part of the Helpline House family for over three years and brings a warm smile to everyone she greets.
When she's not volunteering, Sarah is passionate about Olympic weightlifting and even coaches part-time at a local gym. She also founded a nonprofit running program for girls, helping young people build confidence, strength, and independence.
Her favorite place on Bainbridge? Her backyard oasis complete with an in-ground pool. And while some people reach for mac and cheese, Sarah's comfort food is a giant bowl of fresh salad greens!
Sarah says one of the best parts of volunteering is connecting with clients and spending time with her wonderful fellow food bank desk volunteers each Monday morning.
Thank you, Sarah, for your dedication, kindness, and the positive energy you bring to Helpline House every week!

As Helpline House prepares to move into our new home, you may notice that food bank selection is a little more limited during the week of June 1st. We’re busy packing, moving, organizing, and getting everything ready for an exciting new chapter!
To help make the final transition, our current location will close at 12:30 PM on Friday, June 5th, so our team and volunteers can move the last of our inventory and equipment to the new building.
While some shelves may look a little lighter than usual this week, rest assured—we’re saving our best stocking efforts for our grand opening on Monday, June 8th. Our new food bank will be fully stocked, freshly organized, and ready to welcome clients with an even better shopping experience.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make this transition. We can’t wait to open our doors and show you what we’ve been working so hard to create!
New Location Opens: June 8, 2026
Food Bank Opens: 10:00 AM
See you soon in our new home!

Are you feeling moooved to help? 🐮
Helpline House is currently in need of milk and yogurt donations for our clients! These items are some of the first to fly off the shelves and help provide quick, nutritious options for families throughout the week.
If you’re heading to the store, we’d be so grateful if you picked up an extra gallon of milk or a few tubs of yogurt to donate.
Thank you for always showing up for our community and helping keep our refrigerators stocked. You are all simply legen-dairy. 🥛
Donations can be dropped off at 901 Hildebrand Lane. We are here Monday - Friday from 9am - 5pm.

Sara joined our Monday morning crew about six months ago and has quickly become part of the team helping process Grocery Rescue donations to get the food bank stocked and ready for the week ahead.
When she’s not volunteering, Sara is an avid reader with a never-ending “to be read” pile, loves paddleboarding at Blakely Harbor, and proudly admits mashed potatoes and gravy are her ultimate comfort food. Oh — and she once tried roller derby with the amazing derby name “Tyranasaraus Wreck!”
Sara says volunteering at Helpline House has helped her connect with new people and become more involved in the community, even inspiring her to join Rotary and explore new ways her business, Suseyi Pro Moving, can give back.
Thank you, Sara, for all you do for Helpline House and our community!

A huge thank you to Briny Bagels for their weekly donation of delicious bagels for our clients!
Our volunteer Rollie will make sure these bagels are ready to go by carefully packing them into six-packs for our shoppers to enjoy at home. It’s community partnerships and volunteers like these that help make our food bank feel a little extra special.
Thank you, Briny Bagels, for helping us spread kindness one bagel at a time!

Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Larry!
Larry has been volunteering with Helpline House for a little over six years and is a familiar face on our Monday afternoon closing shift. He started volunteering as a way to give back for the opportunities he’s had in life — and we’re so grateful he chose to share his time with us!
When he’s not volunteering, Larry enjoys playing guitar, making his famous turkey lasagna, and heading to Trivia Night at the Bainbridge Island Alehouse with his wife Carol and friends each Monday.
Fun fact: Larry attended Woodstock in 1969 after telling his parents he was “going camping with friends!”
Larry and Carol (pictured) will soon be celebrating their 51st wedding anniversary. Thank you, Larry, for being such an important part of the Helpline House family!
