🚓🚒 Safety Week at Advantage Charter Academy! 🚨👮‍♂️

The Baker Police Department was excited to participate in Advantage Charter Academy’s Safety Week!

Captain A. Taylor, Detective Lieutenant S. Hookfin, Sergeant J. Hilliard, and Officer A. Johnson, along with Lieutenant B. Dietrich of the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team and members of the Brownsfield Fire Department, joined scholars for a fun and educational experience focused on safety!

Throughout the visit, scholars had the opportunity to interact with local first responders, get an up-close look at some of the equipment used every day to keep our communities safe, and learn about the importance of safety in their daily lives.

One of the highlights of the day was getting an up-close look at the EBRSO SWAT Team’s BearCat armored vehicle! Scholars learned about the vehicle, its equipment, and how it helps law enforcement respond to critical situations.

A special thank you to Advantage Charter Academy for inviting us to be part of this wonderful event and for their continued partnership with the Baker Police Department. Opportunities like these allow us to build positive relationships with our youth while helping them better understand the important role first responders play in our community.

We enjoyed spending time with the scholars and seeing their excitement, curiosity, and enthusiasm throughout the day!

💜 DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH 💜

Love should never hurt. Abuse is never acceptable.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the Baker Police Department stands with survivors, supports those seeking help, and remains committed to raising awareness about domestic violence in our community.

Domestic violence is not always physical. It can include emotional abuse, threats, intimidation, financial control, isolation, and other behaviors intended to control or harm another person. Too often, these situations happen behind closed doors, leaving victims feeling trapped, afraid, or alone.

💜 If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please know that help is available. You deserve to feel safe, respected, and supported. Speaking up can be difficult, but you do not have to face this alone.

📞 Need help?

National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-SAFE (7233)
Text: START to 88788
Immediate danger: Call 911.
This month, and every month, we encourage our community to break the silence, recognize the signs of abuse, support survivors without judgment, and remember that domestic violence is never the victim’s fault.

Together, we can help break the cycle of abuse and build a safer, stronger community.
