🔥 Wildland Fire Response – October 6, 2026 🔥
At approximately 3:30 PM on October 6, Fork Mountain Fire and Rescue was dispatched, along with Bradshaw Fire Department, Bakersville Fire Department, Mitchell County Emergency Management, and the North Carolina Forest Service, to a wildland fire in the 3900 block of NC Hwy 197.
Fork Mountain responded with Brush 6, ATV 6, and Tanker 6, bringing a total of 8 personnel from Station 6.
Within approximately four hours of arriving on scene, the agencies involved were able to establish containment lines around the fire and successfully prevent it from reaching the heavy blowdown along the ridgeline.
Through great teamwork, communication, and a coordinated effort, the fire was contained to approximately 5 acres.
This incident is another great example of what can be accomplished when our local agencies work together to protect our community. 🚒🔥
Great job by everyone involved!
