Join former Mayor Pro Tem Elishima Myles on Saturday, June 13 at 11 AM as she presents an interactive budget workshop for teens! The workshop is aimed to teach money management and better saving skills and habits, that can be applied now and in the future to avoid poor spending choices. Saving money does not have to be hard, it just has to be practiced. Learn the Do’s and Don’ts of spending, how to spend money wisely, and create the right budget and savings plan for you!

Welcome the summer with us at Parkfest: Unearth a Story, our summer reading kick off! This community event will take place at Walter E. Luedeke Park TOMORROW on May 29th at 10 AM. Join us next Wednesday, June 3rd at 1 PM for our ABC's of Babysitting class! ABC’s of Babysitting is an introductory level program about safe babysitting techniques for teens and tweens. Open to grades 6-12, students will learn about childcare, safety, and basic CPR. Upon completion of the class, students will receive a certificate and a free backpack with a babysitting starter kit inside.

The Balch Springs Library will open late this Friday, May 29th at 2 PM for Parkfest: Unearth a Story. Parkfest will take place at Walter E. Luedeke Park from 10 AM - 2 PM. Normal business hours at the library will resume on Monday, June 1st.

Join the Friends of Library on Tuesday, May 26th at 10:30 AM in the Hope Community Garden for a Kid's Work Day! Jobs will include pulling grass and weeds, watering, planting, and mulching. We hope to see you there!
