⛈️ BE WEATHER AWARE THIS WEEKEND⛈️

Baldwin Police Department encourages everyone to stay weather-aware and take precautions as severe weather may bring heavy rain, strong winds, flooding, and hazardous road conditions.

🚗 Remember:
• Use your headlights when driving in the rain.
• Reduce your speed and increase following distance on wet roads.
• Never drive through flooded roadways — turn around, don’t drown!
• Secure outdoor items and stay away from downed power lines.

Monitor official weather alerts, avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather, and look out for one another.

📞 Call 911 for emergencies.

Stay alert. Slow down. Stay safe!

Manhunt ongoing outside Cornelia following GSP pursuit

Multiple units from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office continue to assist in the search for a man who fled on foot from a Georgia State Patrol traffic stop outside Cornelia this (Friday) afternoon.

The man, described as 5-foot-5 and 160 pounds with a bald head and tattoos on his neck and upper body, was last seen wearing blue jeans and no shirt. He fled from a location off East Walnut Street near Johnson & Johnson in Cornelia and was last seen crossing Chase Road near Sellers Loop.

A tracking dog is working and numerous units from the Sheriff’s Office and local police departments are saturating the area around Chase Road, Camp Creek Road, and Demorest-Mt. Airy Highway.

While the man is not believed to pose a danger, residents and motorists are asked not to approach him but rather to dial 9-1-1 immediately.
