This past Saturday was the Rapides Parish Firefighter Associations Firefighter Appreciation Day. Two Firefighters for Ball Fire Department got awards that day. Firefighter Jacob Cannon was awarded Firefighter of the Year. FF Cannon has become a very valuable asset on the department since he has joined. When we have training he is very hands on and pays very close attention. Captain Joe Hamner was awarded the Chief Billy Norris Lifetime Achievement award for his 36 continuous years of service. This award is voted on by the Rapides Parish Firefighter Association. He was unable to attend the appreciation day so he was awarded at last nights council meeting. As their Chief I am very proud of these to very valuable members of Ball Fire Department.
