🧡 WEAR ORANGE! STAND TOGETHER AGAINST BULLYING! 🧡

🦁 GHEMS UNITY DAY | WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2026

Garrett Heights Elementary Middle School is joining schools across the nation to celebrate Unity Day, a day dedicated to kindness, acceptance, inclusion, and bullying prevention!

We're calling on ALL GHEMS students, families, teachers, and staff to WEAR ORANGE on Wednesday, October 21, as a visible message that bullying has no place in our school or community.

🧡 One Color. One School. One Powerful Message.

Together, we can create a school environment where every student feels safe, respected, valued, and included.

📸 Families, show your support! Wear orange, take a picture, and share your GHEMS Unity Day spirit!

🦁💙💛 HAPPY NATIONAL PRINCIPALS MONTH! 💛💙🦁

Celebrating Our Amazing Leader, Principal Matthews-Traynham!

October is National Principals Month, and the Garrett Heights Elementary Middle School community is proud to celebrate our very own Mrs. Matthews-Traynham!

Great schools are built on strong leadership, meaningful relationships, and a shared commitment to student success. At GHEMS, Principal Matthews-Traynham leads with heart, determination, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every scholar.

Whether she's supporting teachers, encouraging students, connecting with families, or rolling up her sleeves to get things done, her commitment to our school community goes far beyond the principal's office.

Leadership isn't just about being in charge. It's about showing up, lifting others, and creating opportunities for everyone to succeed.

Mrs. Matthews-Traynham, thank you for your dedication, compassion, resilience, and the countless ways you help make GHEMS a place where students can learn, grow, and thrive.

GHEMS Family, help us show our principal some LOVE! Drop a message of appreciation in the comments and let her know how much her leadership means to our school community! 💙💛

Stronger Students. Stronger Families. Stronger Together.

The Garrett Heights Elementary Middle School community proudly celebrates our amazing custodial team on Custodians Day.

Our custodians do far more than clean classrooms and hallways. They help create a school environment that is safe, welcoming, organized, and ready for learning every single day. Their work often happens before students arrive, after families leave, and behind the scenes throughout the school day.

From maintaining our building to responding when something needs immediate attention, our custodial team plays an essential role in the success of GHEMS. Their dedication supports our students, staff, families, and the entire school community.

On behalf of the Friends of GHEMS and the GHEMS School Community, we say thank you for your hard work, consistency, pride, and commitment to Garrett Heights.

Happy Custodians Day! We see you, we appreciate you, and we are grateful for everything you do to keep GHEMS shining.

Garrett Heights Elementary Middle School is proud to celebrate our outstanding September Students of the Month!

These scholars were selected for demonstrating the qualities we want to see throughout the GHEMS community — hard work, positive behavior, responsibility, leadership, and a commitment to learning. Their recognition reflects the effort they bring to school each day and the example they set for their classmates.

This month brings an extra special reason to celebrate. Sibling Sisters were both selected as Students of the Month for September! Having two scholars from the same family earn this recognition at the same time is a powerful reflection of consistency, effort, and family support.

We congratulate our Super Siblings, and all of our September honorees. Keep leading, keep learning, and keep showing what it means to represent GHEMS with pride.

Congratulations, Scholars! The entire GHEMS community is proud of you!

🎤 THE MIC WAS ON… AND GHEMS SHOWED OUT! 🎶
Our GHEMS students grabbed the microphone, hit the dance floor, and brought plenty of energy to GHEMS Karaoke! From singing their favorite songs to dancing, laughing, and cheering each other on, this is what school joy looks like.
Moments like these matter. School is about academics, but it’s also about belonging, friendships, confidence, creativity, and making memories together.
Turn the volume up and check out our Lions having a GREAT time! 🎤🎵
