The Gen Z teens yearn for horror and manga. Come teen book shopping with me at Ollie’s discount store. What should i buy? Drop your book recommendations in the comments. Sometimes in order to get teen to read in book deserts, you have to match their reading interest.

So grateful and thankful to be featured in this beautiful piece about my work in book deserts and the magical and innovative ways we’ve implemented to get books into the hands of children and families who otherwise would not have them.

Thank you TODAY so much for sharing my story and helping shine a light on the importance of bringing books directly to communities. 💛

Come refill my free book vending machine with me for Back to School

Thinking about Gloria Steinem, who helped create Take Our Daughters to Work Day. But did you know there were other leaders who helped shape the movement too? I’ve added some of them to the list.

I do this because I want children to have access to stories about people who changed the world and books can be windows, mirrors, and glass doors, helping them see all the possibilities of who they can become. Access to these stories means access to the possibilities.

Inspired by the work of Dolly Parton and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, I believe every child deserves access to books that help them dream, imagine, and see themselves in the stories they read. ❤️

Hi, I’m a Radical Street Librarian, giving away free books in book deserts. But I do so much more than just give away books. I use my expertise and years of experience working in libraries to curate collections that reflect the needs and interests of each community.

That can mean books with characters who look like them, books that offer escapism, or books that teach kids to love themselves.

Today, this little reader found a book celebrating natural hair. Black hair is beautiful, and there’s nothing we can’t do. 💪🏿

I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS HAPPENED 😱 Today is the last day of our summer stops for the storybook trolley. We completed 22 events in 9 weeks, and by chance today I ran into a family I haven’t seen in 9 years!!! I was so happy and shocked I almost cried. 🥹

Their daughter is one of my very first ever library Storytime babies! I still have her baby picture on my refrigerator to this day! 🥹❤️ Talk about a full-circle moment! Such a blessing to see this little one again almost 10 years later, now school-aged. Whew 🥲. God works in mysterious ways 🙏🏿

Could not have asked for a better way to close out the summer. 📚✨ Also how cute is this little one dancing with my headphones on in the trolley today?

I am going on break but will be available online. So if you usually see me in person, peace put for now. If you usually see me on the Internet, you’ll be seeing more of me over the next few weeks. 😅😂
