Yesterday, we joined agency partners in the Westport community for a neighborhood blitz focused on cleanup, identifying areas in need of attention, and connecting residents to vital resources.

Thank you to all our agency partners who showed up and worked alongside the community. Public safety starts with strong partnerships, community engagement, and taking action together to build safer neighborhoods.

Public safety is built with the community, not just for the community. Safe Streets Baltimore works with residents and neighborhood leaders to prevent conflict, connect people to resources, and save lives. As of October 10, 2026, Safe Streets teams have successfully mediated 1,093 potentially violent conflicts and made 466 referrals for community members to be connected with other services providers. This is what co-producing public safety looks like.

Recognizing the warning signs of abuse can help protect you and someone you care about. Control, intimidation, and isolation are not signs of love. Everyone deserves relationships built on respect, safety, and trust.

This Monday, October 12, we observe Indigenous People’s Day. It is an opportunity to recognize and honor the history, resilience, and contributions of Indigenous People’s whose communities have been part of this land long before us.

Today we recognize the continued presence of Indigenous communities and the many ways they preserve their cultures, strengthen their communities, and contribute to the future of Baltimore and our region. We honor their voices, stories, and lasting impact.

Housing is safety. We brought partners, agencies, and organizations together for our IPV–GBV Housing Summit to explore the connection between gender-based violence and housing and how Baltimore can help survivors access safe, stable housing.

Thank you to for hosting and helping move this conversation forward. Safer communities start with pathways to safety, stability, and home.

October is Youth Justice Action Month. In Baltimore, creating safer communities means making sure young people have a voice in shaping the future of their neighborhoods. We’re listening, investing in prevention, and working alongside young people, families, and community partners to co-produce public safety. When young people have the support and opportunities to thrive, Baltimore is safer for everyone.
