We celebrated the ribbon cutting of Loyola University Maryland’s newly renovated Community Hub at 5104 York Road! ✂️

This space reflects the power of community partnerships and sustained investment in the York Road corridor. Since 2020, we’ve secured more than $6 million in state investments to support local organizations, businesses, and community revitalization.

🎉 Congratulations to Loyola and the York Road community. This hub belongs to you.

🚨 Today is the last day to register to vote!

The Maryland Supreme Court has ruled that Question 3 on congressional redistricting will remain on the November ballot, with clearer language to help voters understand what’s being asked.

Here’s what you need to know about this constitutional amendment:

✅ It allows the General Assembly to give the Maryland Supreme Court original jurisdiction to review a congressional map and clarifies that federal law will determine the criteria for congressional district boundaries.

This vote does not draw a new map or immediately change who represents you in Congress.

It gives Maryland flexibility to respond to changing political realities, just as other states are doing, while upholding fair representation under federal law. Marylanders deserve clear, honest information.

🗳️ Vote FOR Question 3.

Today, October 1st, landmark legislation passed to protect our communities, support local workers, and preserve Maryland’s unique ecosystems officially takes effect!

I’m proud to have sponsored these three new laws:

🤝 Maryland Limited Worker Cooperative Association Act: Empowering worker-owners with a clear legal framework to build sustainable, worker-owned businesses across Maryland.

🏠 Lead Risk Reduction in Housing: Strengthening lead risk protections by updating rental dwelling definitions to keep Maryland families and children safe in their homes.

🐸 Jack Cover Vernal Pools Act of 2026: Safeguarding vital wetland habitats by establishing a state inventory and dedicated agency training to identify and protect vernal pools.

Swipe through to see what each new law means for you and our community.

I’m heading to Port Isobel Island in Tangier, Virginia, aboard the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s boat for our annual retreat with legislators and representatives from Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

The beautiful Chesapeake Bay doesn’t stop at our state borders, so neither should our commitment to protecting it! Looking forward to learning, sharing ideas, and working together with regional partners to preserve our shared waters for generations to come.

Please join me for an Upper Herring Run Watershed Meeting on Thursday, September 17th from 6-8 PM in East Towson. Come learn how water moves through our community and why what happens upstream can have serious impacts downstream.

I’m inviting all community members and interested stakeholders to learn about the streams, tributaries, and drainage systems that make up the Upper Herring Run watershed. We’ll explore where water goes when it rains, how storm drains and drainage systems work, and discuss concerns around stormwater, flooding, sediment, drainage, construction impacts, and the health of our watershed and communities.

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, we also honor the full history of all the communities that call Baltimore County home. The freedoms we celebrate today were hard-fought and built on the resilience, sacrifice, and determination of those who came before us.

From the waves and smiles to the conversations along the parade route, I was happy to celebrate the Fourth with our Towson community. Thank you to everyone who came out, cheered us on, and made the day so special. ❤️

My reflections while watching the fireworks tonight: I celebrate my freedom, my independence, and my place in this country - not because our history is perfect, but because generations before us fought to make its promises real.

This nation was built on the backs of my ancestors and countless others whose blood, sweat, and tears shaped America: enslaved Black people, immigrant laborers who laid the railroads, mined the coal, forged the steel, picked the cotton, fought in our wars, and too often lost their lives to violence and injustice.

Their sacrifices are woven into the fabric of this nation. Today, I honor them. I claim this country because they helped build it. I celebrate not only how far we’ve come, but our responsibility to continue the work of creating a nation where liberty, justice, and opportunity truly belong to everyone.

Happy Independence Day. May we continue striving to fulfill the promise of America: for ALL.

It was such an honor to join the Historic East Towson community for its Inaugural Juneteenth Parade and Cookout.

This celebration highlighted the strength, resilience, and rich history of Baltimore County’s oldest African American community. Founded by formerly enslaved people from the Hampton Estate, East Towson stands as a powerful testament to generations of perseverance, self-determination, and community building.

It is the first neighborhood where African Americans could own land in Baltimore County. Please learn more about this important history at historiceasttowson.org.

As we commemorate Juneteenth, we are reminded that preserving historic Black communities like East Towson means preserving the stories, land, and legacies that have shaped Baltimore County for nearly two centuries. Thank you to the residents and organizers who made this memorable day possible. 🖤
