On the evening of Thursday, October 15, the SJTF cohort gathered for its first-ever overnight retreat at Pearlstone Retreat Center.

The fellows spent the next 22 hours learning and living the core concepts of the program, by sharing meals and space, playing team-building games, and diving courageously into thoughtful and challenging dialogue.

Together, the cohort viewed the film “Shared Legacies,” which retells and explores the Civil-Rights Era coalition between Black Americans and American Jews, learned in-depth about bridge building, and were able to examine their own “Why,” as they move deeper into this work together.

Thank you to our partners who helped make this such a successful retreat, and thank you to our fellows for your openness, your bravery, and your curiosity.

What a wonderful celebration Sunday for the official ribbon cutting of the College Park Hillel’s new building. A gorgeous building that opened on the original site of the very first Hillel at the University of Maryland . The BJC was proud to help secure state capital dollars to support the project.
