Maryland Insurance Administration The Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) is an independent State agency charged with regulating Maryland's $57 billion insurance industry.

We protect consumers through regulation, education, and advocacy. If you are looking for more information about the Maryland Insurance Administration, please visit www.insurance.maryland.gov. The MIA's goal is to provide efficient, effective service to both the consumers of insurance products and the insurance industry. The MIA best serves its core constituents by assuring fair treatment of consumers. Consumers are protected when insurance coverage is available at fair prices and when companies are solvent and utilize fair sales, claims and settlement practices. The agency strives to increase public understanding of the vital role insurance plays in the daily lives of Maryland citizens and businesses. Insurance is the principal means of managing risks. While it is not possible to eliminate risks arising from poor health, auto accidents, home damage and other unexpected occurrences, you may minimize its impact by purchasing appropriate insurance coverage. Though the MIA cannot recommend a particular policy or insurance company, we can help you learn what types of coverage are available, at what cost, and assist you if you have a complaint about how your insurance company responds when you file a claim.

Maryland has launched a new Job Training Search Tool on the Maryland Benefits page to help residents find job training, adult education, and workforce programs statewide. This free, easy-to-use tool is especially helpful for anyone needing to meet new federal work rules from H.R.1 tied to Medicaid and SNAP. Search by location or industry by accessing the tool as detailed in the full press release: https://governor.maryland.gov/news/press-releases/governor-moore-announces-job-training-search-tool-connect-marylanders-opportunities-and-safe

Governor Wes Moore today announced the launch of a new tool to help Marylanders connect with job training, adult education, and workforce development programs. The tool includes more than 900 opportunities and can help residents find programs that meet new federal work requirements.

The Trump administration’s H.R. 1 law ties access to essential food assistance and health care coverage to documented work activities. Through the new tool and other efforts, Maryland is working in partnership with state agencies to help residents navigate these changes, find qualifying programs, and keep the benefits they rely on.

"This new database builds on that progress, making it even easier for our customers to find approved workforce programs, fulfill new federal requirements, and safeguard the support they rely on every day,” said Acting DHS Secretary Stacy L. Rodgers.

State agency leaders from DHS, the Maryland Department of Health, Maryland Health Benefit Exchange, and Maryland Insurance Administration joined community partners in Prince George’s County for a roundtable discussion on how federal H.R. 1 policy changes affect Maryland families.

Why does this matter? These changes can affect access to food assistance and health care for our neighbors.

Through collaboration and proactive outreach, Maryland has helped nearly 40,000 Marylanders keep their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program food benefits.

As Medicaid changes approach, we remain committed to working together to help Marylanders access the essential food and health supports they rely on every day.

Wet leaves, morning frost and slick roads can make fall driving challenging. Wore tire tread can reduce traction and increase stopping distances on wet roads.
