We had a lovely morning welcoming Civic Works donors and stakeholders to a program spotlight featuring our Community Landscaping and Community Canopy teams!
During the spotlight, our program members shared with guests the greening projects they’re working on at several sites, including a community garden on Ellsworth Avenue. In collaboration with partner organizations, our teams have planted new trees, including fruit trees, maintained tree pits, mowed and cared for green spaces, and more.
Community members also shared how they have partnered with our teams to coordinate greening efforts that complement the addition of a new mural and upcoming community art installations. Our team members highlighted another example of their community work: creating cat feeders at the request of neighbors to care for local stray cats.
Together, our teams and community members look forward to continuing to transform this space into a welcoming place where people can gather, connect, and thrive.
Beyond their impact on the community, participants in our greening programs are excited to gain hands-on experience and build the skills they need to launch their careers.
Our monthly program spotlights give donors the opportunity to visit our programs, connect with our teams, and see firsthand how their support helps make this work possible. Our next program spotlight will take place on November 18th and feature our Elder Services program.
