Rape Response Services R**e Response Services strives to create an atmosphere of non-violence by pursuing a mission of social justice.

R**e Response Services strives to create an atmosphere of non-violence by pursuing a mission of social change. We believe in a comprehensive vision of sexual violence prevention which balances both a responsibility to individuals affected by sexual violence, as well as to society as a whole. We believe that recognition of the connection between sexism and sexual violence is vital to our social change efforts. RRS works to support and encourage an end to all forms of oppression, and view this as an essential part of our efforts to eradicate sexual violence and create lasting, positive social change. R**e Response Services is committed to treating all people with the highest level of compassion, dignity, and respect, regardless of age, gender, race, culture, ethnic background, sexual orientation, religion, ability, socioeconomic status or any other social marker. R**e Response Services believes strongly in supporting the right of the victim/survivor to make self-directed choices about issues raised by the experience, as well as choices that enhance an individual's emotional and physical health, and overall wellness. We fully support an individual's freedom to make reproductive choices and to have access to all reproductive services. RRS is committed to empowering survivors and eliminating sexual violence.

💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Domestic violence can include many forms of abuse, including intimate partner sexual violence. Being in a relationship does not mean someone is entitled to another person’s body. Consent matters in every relationship, every time.

If you or someone you care about is experiencing abuse, you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Partners for Peace is our local domestic violence resource center serving Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties. Their advocates provide confidential, nonjudgmental support, safety planning, advocacy, shelter and housing resources, justice system navigation, children's services and more.

For support related to sexual violence, R**e Response Services is also here to listen, support, and help you explore your options.

As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, R**e Response Services hosted a Community Mandala Art Project designed to engage community members in a collective expression of healing, hope, and support for survivors. Participants were invited to contribute words, messages, and artwork reflecting encouragement, resilience, and community care.

Community members of all ages participated, sharing thoughtful messages centered on healing, empowerment, belief, and connection.

The completed mandala serves as a visual representation of the community's commitment to supporting survivors and fostering a culture where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. The project generated meaningful conversations about sexual violence prevention, survivor support, and the importance of community engagement in creating positive change.

We were pleased with the level of participation and the heartfelt contributions received. The finished artwork will be displayed as a reminder that survivors are not alone and that healing is strengthened through community support.
