While you don't always have to be quiet when visiting a library these days, sometimes you do need a quiet place. We have recently designated our 2nd floor 1912 room as a space for quiet study and reading so beware of shushing librarians!

Veterans For Peace – Tom Sturtevant Chapter is a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational and humanitarian organization dedicated to the abolishment of war. As part of their mission to increase public awareness of the causes and costs of war they’ve partnered with Bangor Public Library for a two-part book discussion group led by chapter President, Adam Toothaker.

The group will read and discuss Barbara Tuchman’s The March of Folly: From Troy to Vietnam over two months. The 11/5 meeting will discuss chapters 1-3 and the 12/3 meeting will discuss chapters 4-5 and the epilogue. Participants only need to register one time for the two sessions and will receive their own copy of the book. Details about book pickup at the library will be emailed to the group by October 9th.
