A reason to run 🏃

Last week, Team Barksdale hosted the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force James Binnicker Memorial Run. Binnicker served as the Air Force Enlisted Village's president and CEO from 2000 until his passing in 2015. Binnicker's vision brought many additions to the Bob Hope Village campus, including the Garden of Hope, the Bob Gates Welcome Center and Hawthorn House.

The event's profits will support the memory care wing at the Air Force Enlisted Village's assisted living residence, Hawthorn House, where surviving military spouses and veterans with dementia reside.

Building partnerships beyond the gates 🤝

The 2nd Bomb Wing recently hosted our honorary commanders for an inside look at the capabilities and operations that make our installation a vital part of the Shreveport-Bossier community and national defense.

The engagement enabled community leaders to connect with our Airmen, giving them a deeper understanding of our mission, allowing them to become informed advocates and ambassadors throughout the community.

Strong partnerships strengthen the mission and we are committed to building lasting connections with our community. Barksdale displays our utmost gratitude for our honorary commanders’ dedication and all you do to support our community and mission day in and day out.

Recognizing our newest American citizens! 🇺🇸

Congratulations to seven of our Airmen who recently became U.S. citizens through the military naturalization process during a formal ceremony at Barksdale Air Force Base. The military naturalization process provides eligible service members with an opportunity to become U.S. citizens through their service to the country.

After taking the Oath of Allegiance and receiving their Certificates of Naturalization, they marked a milestone in their lives. We are proud to serve alongside these incredible Airmen!

Stay ready. Use the MindGym. 🧠

The 2nd Bomb Wing officially reopened its MindGym with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, investing in a resource designed to help build the cognitive skills that support mission readiness.

Using guided exercises and a biosensor headband, MindGym gives participants a controlled environment to train focus, mental clarity and decision-making. Airmen and civilians across Barksdale can use the resource, regardless of rank or job.

Stop by the Senior Airman Bryan Bell Fitness Center to explore MindGym and see how training your mind can help you stay ready for the demands of the mission.

Throwback Thursday ✈️

In September 1996, Barksdale Airmen and two B-52H Stratofortresses played a key role in Operation Desert Strike. The B-52Hs deployed from Barksdale Air Force Base to Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, before conducting a long-range strike against targets in Iraq.

The mission marked the first combat employment of the B-52H model and demonstrated Barksdale's ability to project long-range combat power across the globe.

Nearly 30 years later, the B-52H remains a cornerstone of Barksdale's mission and the 2nd Bomb Wing's global combat capability.
