A huge thank you to Tonia Grant from the Arkansas Department of Agriculture for planning the Abandoned Pesticide program! This program covered Crawford, Johnson, Pope, Sebastian, and Franklin Counties, and successfully collected 738 pounds of pesticide waste!

The 2027 Schedule for Pints & Plants has been posted 🥳

See the attached for flyer for dates and topics for Pints & Plants, a FREE gardening workshop open to the public one Saturday each month, suitable for beginners, experienced gardeners, and everyone in between! 🌿

Pints & Plants is presented by the Sebastian County Extension Service and is hosted by Fort Smith Brewing Company.

The 4-H team was at the Janet Huckabee River Valley Nature Center early this morning for a community event hosted by Harbor House Inc. Prevention Programs. “Little Ones and Loved Ones” was a great opportunity to engage with some of the youngest community members and their families!

Activities included fall crafts, a costume parade, completing a “passport” and collecting some goodies as well!

The 4-H team brought a pumpkin sun catcher craft as well as the commodity bins for kids to interact with. Every family went home with a free Arkansas agriculture book as well as some 4-H information!

The Abandoned Pesticide Disposal Program will be held tomorrow from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Crawford County Fairgrounds, located at 845 Kirksey Drive, Mulberry, AR 72947.

This is an excellent opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted or unused herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides at no cost.

To help streamline the process, please use the registration link below to pre-register any pesticides you plan to bring for disposal.

The 4-H team has been all over the county sharing "Pumpkin Jack" with local students. These classes will keep an eye on "Jack" throughout the school year and observe all the changes. By Spring, the seeds will have planted themselves in the soil and sprouts will appear, giving the students an up-close view of the completion of the life cycle of a pumpkin. Stay tuned for "Pumpkin Jack" updates! 🎃

A special congratulations to Allisyn Stratton, who did an outstanding job representing Sebastian County 4-H! Allisyn shared how the 4-H program continues to grow and highlighted many of the educational opportunities available to our youth. From in-school programs like Pumpkin Jack and Snowflake Science, to 4-H Day Camps, hands-on learning experiences, and even airport tours where youth were able to watch F-35s take off, 4-H is providing exciting opportunities for young people to learn, lead, and grow.

We are incredibly grateful to the Sebastian County Farm Bureau for their continued support of our 4-H program and their investment in the next generation of leaders. Partnerships like these help make a lasting impact on the youth and agricultural community of Sebastian County.
